Propylene glycol is a viscous, oily fluid which is commonly used in many products. Food grade propylene is safe for drinking and is non-toxic. It is often used as a food preservative, a non-toxic antifreeze, a humectant (to keep foods moist), solvent (ink jet printer cleaning), and in food refrigerant applications, such as in making icecream.
